Keith Brooker - Biography

Keith Brooker was appointed as a Director for City & Guilds in October 1991. In 2006 he was appointed Group Director, Policy and Institute Affairs and was responsible for the establishment of a new research and development centre within City & Guilds (launched as the Centre for Skills Development in March 2008).
Keith started his working life as a City & Guilds Apprentice in Engineering Production. He has worked for Vauxhall Motors, making cars, and as a teacher in a college of technology. Following a spell with the British Standards Institution, where he developed teaching and learning materials. He joined City & Guilds in January 1984 to develop Information Technology qualifications for all levels. Having a passion for where he could see City & Guilds going, he progressed to become Director of Product Development and Operations in 1991 taking on the role of Group Director of Markets and Products in 2001.
Keith is a Director and Trustee of the Institute of Leadership and Management, ILM, and of NPTC, the leading land-based awarding body. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Freeman of the Guild of Educators and an Adviser to the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
