Stay switched on - new electrical qualifications available this autumn - 05 Apr 2007
The 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, BS 7671:2008 Requirements for Electrical Installation, will be published next January and come into effect from July 2008.
The good news is that we’re already way ahead with developing new qualifications that will take changes to the current regulations into account and are due to launch them in September - giving you plenty of time to sign up for approval to deliver the awards.
What’s more, the assessments will be available from January, to tie in with the publication date so you can be assured that you will be able to offer the whole qualification and assessment package to learners when the demand will be at its highest.
We’ve been working with key industry bodies such as the IET, NICEIC, ECA and SummitSkills to make sure that the awards are fit-for-purpose and anticipate that they will be in demand, especially the one day ‘17th edition update’, as the last revision was over 15 years ago (1991).
On a related note, as part of our work in keeping up-to-date with the latest changes to the regulations, we’re working closely with The IET to produce a suite of books for candidates. The Exam Success series is an ideal way to prepare for 2377, 2381 and 2391 assessments and the books are mapped to the latest IET regulations.
These books include sample exam papers with answers written by experts from The IET, as well as guidance from City & Guilds examiners. Exam Success 2381 is already available, and the other two publications will be available in June (2377) and August (2391). For further information, please contact our colleagues in the Teaching & Learning Materials department (learningmaterials@cityandguilds.com).
City & Guilds has a strong, established reputation in this sector and our new and updated qualifications and supporting materials will provide electricians – both new to the industry and those already working – with the necessary information and skills they need to do their jobs.
Keep an eye out for more updates or contact jenny.andrews@cityandguilds.com for further information.
