This qualification is intended for learners who lack personal, social and employability skills and have therefore been disadvantaged and not realised their potential in mainstream activities particularly.  Learners are most likely to be from traditionally excluded groups such as: educational underachievers, unemployed, those in or leaving care, offenders or ex-offenders. 

The overall aim of the qualifications is to provide opportunities and activities through an understanding of a range of settings – individual and group work; community work and the work place.   In achieving the qualification learners will gain confidence, the skills, knowledge and opportunity to develop positive attitudes and approaches to others and their own life.
