If you wish to become a City & Guilds centre and are currently approved for NVQs with either Edexcel or OCR, you can take advantage of our common centre and qualification approval service. 

To do this, send the following to your City & Guilds regional/national office:

• awarding body centre approval letter and qualification approval letter
• two most recent EV visit reports
• completed documents:

statement of intent
letterhead
credit application (CAF) including direct debit form.pdf 0.14mb

• a cheque for £1500 (centre approval fee)

Your centre will receive one qualification approval application free of charge when you apply to become a City & Guilds centre.

Any further City & Guilds qualifications your centre wishes to apply for are subject to a £200 fee unless specified by City & Guilds.

On receipt of the information, your regional/national office will review the information provided and inform your centre in writing if your application is successful. 

They will allocate a Quality Systems Consultant (QSC) who will contact your centre to arrange a visit, to ensure that suitable quality assurance systems are in place and discuss City & Guilds requirements for becoming an approved City & Guilds centre.

If the QSC report shows that your centre meets City & Guilds requirements, (and subject to positive acceptance of EV visit reports from previous awarding body), your centre will not be subject to a centre approval visit and/or a qualification approval visit.  You will then  be allocated an external verifier.

It is important to note that at this stage, your centre will only be able to register candidates on their chosen qualification, and certification will be subject to a positive monitoring visit by an external verifier.
