Certificate in Effective Augmentative and Alternative Communication - Basic Skills ENT (No. 3715 )

This unique award is designed for people who have little or no natural speech. It is based on Scope's Augmentative and Alternative Communication Curriculum and helps learners develop their ability to communicate through non-verbal means such as symbols and word boards to sophisticated electronic communication aids.

The award is open to all ages. The qualification is designed to be taught by a variety of professionals including teachers, specialist speech and language therapists and physiotherapists. It can also be delivered in a range of environments from schools to training centres and residential homes.

Qualification structure

The award has 3 levels (entry 1 -3), each comprising four units.

  • Conversation skills
  • Directing others
  • Asserting independence
  • Using ICT for remote communication
