The award at level 1 is designed to accredit the skills of trainees and other salon staff working as hairdressing assistants.

Level 2 covers the essential skills required by a hairdresser. A broader range of units at level 3 reflects the roles of senior salon staff. Units range from shampooing, conditioning and drying hair, to facilitating learning through demonstration and instruction.
