Construction ‘Don’ scores high on list
The Stewart Milne Group is one of the UK’s leading privately owned housebuilders and in 2005, its founder and chairman, Stewart Milne was voted Scottish Entrepreneur of the Year.
The company posted a 40% jump in profits in the year to June 2006 (to £28m) on sales up at £282.2m. Still at the helm of the Aberdeen-based construction group, Stewart also received a £5.3m salary and £5m contribution to his pension. Moving into the English market helped develop Stewart's business and, with its profits record, the business which is 100% owned by the Milne Family should easily be worth £300m. Although Aberdeen football club fans may have their eyes on some of that cash: as Milne is club chairman of the Dons.
