This QCA-approved Higher Professional Diploma is suitable for people working in learning disability services.  This qualification forms part of the Learning Disability Awards Framework (LDAF). The HPD offers two pathways for achievement of the award, Senior Practitioner in Learning Disability Services and Managing Learning Disability Services which are closely mapped to the Level 4 Health & Social Care and Registered Managers (Adults) NVQs, respectively.  Both pathways cover key areas such as understanding learning disability services and person centred planning. Assessment is by means of assignment. The HPD could form the first part (120 credits) of a related Foundation or Honours Degree programme. Learners could also progress to the Master Professional Diploma in Strategy & Development at Level 7 which can be achieved in a learning disability services context.
