Ben Insergent – Joinery

Ben is 22 and lives in Somerton, Somerset. He is currently working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Joinery at Somerset College of Arts and Technology. He is also studying for an Advanced Apprenticeship with his employer Donovan Joinery, carpentry manufacturers of bespoke kitchens and joinery.

‘I think competing at WorldSkills will give me a great opportunity to move onwards and upwards in my career. The experience will put me in good stead to possibly, one day, run my own business.’

Competition requirements: Ben will need to manufacture a window frame, door, stairs of three to four steps, fixtures and fittings.
