Nottingham defies dotcom crash and powers up on study
City & Guilds reveals city’s rising number of IT learners
Skills experts today named Nottingham the UK’s dotcom capital in recognition of its ever-growing appetite for PC learning.
City & Guilds released a new study tracking the uptake of its most popular vocational qualifications in the UK over the last 10 years, Nottingham was singled out for its PC prowess: almost one in five (19 per cent) of the qualifications were awarded in the city are in IT skills.
The city has also been praised for a strong commitment to vocational education in general, with approximately 17,000 City & Guilds qualifications awarded in 2006-07.

Basic plumbing studies made its debut in the top 10 most popular City & Guilds qualifications two years ago and continues riding high in the list

Construction awards first entered the top 20 five years ago and has subsequently continued to rise towards the top of the rankings
