Getting GOLA
Getting GOLA in five easy steps!
1) You must be an approved City & Guilds centre for the award you wish to test. You will then need to gain approval for testing online. If you are not yet approved simply complete our application form A.
2) Approximately seven working days after we receive a correctly completed form you will receive a letter with a username and password as well as the full user guide. The username can then be used to logon to the CatGlobal website and download the GOLA software packages.
3) Complete the installation as per the install guide.
4) Once the installation is complete, contact the GOLA helpdesk to verify the installation. This step is necessary to ensure that your installation is working correctly. The helpdesk will schedule a test for you to complete, once this is completed and uploaded call the helpdesk again and they will check that all the information has been received.
5) If all is well your centre will be activated and you will be able to start testing.
Testing on GOLA in five easy steps!
1) To begin testing, the candidate(s) needs to be registered with City & Guilds. This can be done via the City & Guilds Walled Garden 48 hours before proceeding with any of the following steps. Upon successful registration you will be issued with a unique enrolment number for the candidate. Once the candidate(s) has an enrolment number and you have waited 48 hours you will be able to move on to the the next step...scheduling.
2) When you schedule a test you will be setting a specific date and time for the test to take place. In order to do this you will need to go to the CatGlobal website and logon with your invigilator ID and password (this is the one that would have been supplied to you initially with your start-up pack). For full details on how to do this please refer to the ESM test centre management document. You will need to make a note of the candidate logon details - this can be done by simply clicking the print button at the end of the process.
3) Once you have a test scheduled for the candidate it is now ready to be downloaded onto the Reception Workstation. In order to do this you will need to logon to the ESM software to verify and unlock the test, see Using ESM and eAdministrator document.
4) You will then need to log the candidate on to a testing workstation with eAdministrator installed. You will need the username and password which you will have obtained when you scheduled the candidate.
5) Once the candidate has completed the test, return to the Reception Workstation and log into ESM. At this point you may wish to give the candidate their result and feedback, see Using ESM and eAdminstrator document for more information. Once you have viewed and/or printed the score report upload the results by following the instructions in the same section.
