Scheduled mandatory ESM and eAdministrator upgrade from July 8

From 8 July you will be prompted to install the upgrade which is essential to continue testing.

You have a 30-day grace period to install the upgrade. An early upgrade is advisable, particularly if you are planning to have a break from testing over the summer period. After 30 days, the upgrade will become mandatory and you will not be able to continue testing until this has been completed.

You will need full administrative rights to install the upgrade so please ensure you have appropriate staff available when you want to upgrade. This upgrade replaces any existing ESM and eAdministrator software in existence before 8 July.

From 4 August: Unlock Period Extended

We have extended the unlock period for GOLA tests from 5 hours to 8 hours.
You do not need to change your processes for booking tests in any way.

Currently the tests can be unlocked by centres up to one hour before the scheduled test time and four hours after–five hours in total. The change will allow tests to be unlocked up to four hours before the scheduled test time so tests will be available for an eight hour window in total.

More flexibility for you
You can now unlock several exams together, or release evening exams earlier in the day so staff won’t need to stay late.
Testing with a laptop away from an internet connection is now easier as you have eight hours to access the scheduled test rather than five.

This change only affects the GOLA end tests and not UPK tests delivered through GOLA which have the increased unlock period already.
